T minus 18 hours, and counting!!

The people at my job threw me a surprise farewell breakfast party today! As I'm walking down to hallway to my office I could smell bagels and I kinda knew then that something was waiting for me, and boy was I right! There was all sorts of pastries (some homemade), bagels, muffins, donuts, rugula, spinach, egg and cheese quiche, fruit, juice and coffee, and even deviled eggs! They gave me a nice bouquet of flowers, a Vera Bradley handbag and coin purse in Kensington, a makeup case in Night Owl, and a $150 Visa gift card!!

Plus, one of the doctors that I work for gave me a $50 gift card to Macy's and a silver and blue enamel bangle bracelet, and another doctor gave me a decorative plate from his own collection (I think it's Lebonese but I can't read the name on the back of it). After the party was over I got a call from the main lobby front desk that I had a delivery of flowers!! My boyfriend is so sweet!

Tomorrow I'm working until noon and then heading straight down to Dover. I am so ready to go!

Two Days!!

I can't believe how much stuff I have! It's a good thing I get boxes for free from work (from the recycle bin, not five finger discount!) I have my bathroom all done and my closet, dresser and armoire are mostly done. The only things I have left to pack are things I use everyday, things too bulky to put in a box and the bigger stuff that has to wait for the truck.

Wanna bet on it?!

My last day of work is Friday and I'm leaving at noon to drive straight down to my new home in Delaware. I told DB that I didn't want him to take a day of leave but I was still hoping that he would be home to greet me when I got there. Well, in seemingly typical military fashion, they scheduled him for a mission, which he is out on now. Thankfully, his SRT is something like very early Thursday morning. But since I'm becoming wise to how the AF likes to change things and extend trips at the last moment, we have taken this opportunity to make a bet! I'll post it once he emails me the conditions. I can tell you that the winner will receive a 30 minute back massage for 7 consecutive days which could also include breakfast in bed depending on his actual return time.

It's not fun being separated but we do what we can to make the best of it!

Pictures!

My going away Hawaiian Luau party was this past Saturday and it was so much fun! The party started at 4 which is also when a storm came through, but thankfully we had a tent and it only lasted an hour! Everyone had a great time! Here's some pictures from the party...

Sneaking in a little chat

Gmail chat is the BEST! My honey and I chatted ALL DAY while I was at work. Yes I did work in between chatting, I actually did and I got all my work done too. He was able to chat all day because he was home since he had to go out of town this evening for work. So even though we missed our regularly scheduled talk time tonight, at least we got to chat all day long! A funny (and sarcastic) excerpt...

him: Ah hahaha, i just read the email with the leg lamp!

her: just now?oh the LTD, right

him: yeah
i want it

her: go for it

him: where should we put it in the house?
the living room?
the bedside?

her: Well in the living room, so it can be seen by all who enter our home...

him: haha

her: Maybe we can get a sofa table to put behind the couch so we can set it on that and then everyone who drives by can also appreciate it...

him: good call!

her: Especially at night when it's all lit up and displaying it's glory

him: it's fishnet stocking glory

We are nerds.

Let the Real Countdown Begin

10 more days until moving day... am I ready for this?

I will be giving up a lot of things when I move...

To name a few...

My family.
My friends.
The town I've lived all my life.
My job.
Steady income.
Insurance.
My favorite stores at the mall.
My dancing classes.

How hard will it be to completely start over when I've lived such a comfortable life for so long?

Here's a few pictures from this weekend...

I took a new route with the hopes of avoiding Friday rush hour traffic, so instead of going through NYC and over the George Washington Bridge, I went around NYC and over the Tappan Zee Bridge. It was a much nicer drive in terms of scenery but there was just as much or more traffic. Note to drivers on the NJ Turnpike: the LEFT LANE is for passing and for people who drive very fast, not for travelling and driving like your grandma on Sunday afternoon.

I was told to give DB a heads up when I was about 10 minutes from the house, which was to give him time to prepare this for me to enjoy.

I came in and found a dozen red roses trailing from the front door all the way to the bathroom door. He had a hot bath waiting for me with lit candles and a cold drink (with wine ready for me if I wanted it). How sweet is that?! I loved it and soaked for a good while until I started missing him. I went from the car to the bath with barely a hello! But it was so nice and relaxing.

Then I got to see my new bedroom (yes, we have separate bedrooms) freshly painted. Here's some pictures of the work in progress...

Today we went down to Rehoboth to return some things at the outlets. A bad thunder/hail storm came through while we were in a store.

No time to post

Been busy the last few days because DB finally got home and came up to visit. I'll probably be busy the next few days packing and I'll be in DE for the weekend. I'll try to post some pictures from down there.

And please bear with me as I attempt to make this blog look a little nicer!

"The phone rings from a million miles away
A familiar voice
So I lie and say, I'm doing alright
As if I had a choice
You're a half a world away,
I miss you more each day
But when you get home
there's one more, one more, one more life to save

Forget the world, start saving me
I'm holding on, I can barely breathe
So come on home, rescue me
Forget the world and start saving me."

(Don't know if it's a song or what. Taken from 455daysapart.blogspot.com. Thanks!)
